  • Knowing Swara Sthanams (Position of Notes)
  • Finding and Fixing Your Natural Pitch
  • Basic Rhythm Patterns – Tempo & Thala
  • Singing in Multiple Speeds (Kaalams)
  • Akaarams and Basic Vocal Warm-Up Exercises

Should have learnt Basics within the past 3 years, until Alankaram

Intermediate Learning Goals:

  • Better Understanding of Swarams and Sahityams (Musical Notes and Lyrics)
  • Singing in Different Scales
  • Getting to Know and Develop Your Voice
  • Mastering Around 25 Geethams (Intermediate Level)
  • Learning and Practicing Different Rhythm Patterns
  • Developing the Ability to Identify Swarams by Listening

Advanced Learning Goals:

  • Learning at Least 20 Varnams and 50 Keerthanais
  • Decoding Swarams from Musical Phrases and Vice Versa
  • Attempting Swaram Singing for Various Ragams
  • Developing a Deeper Understanding of Ragams and Commonly Used Phrases
  • Bringing in Creativity Through Manodharmam (Improvisation)
